Wool Alpaca Peacoat in Dark Moss

The dark moss color is perfect in adding subdued variation. Any bright color would be too feminine and distort the military origin of the coat. The mixture of 35% alpaca with the wool adds both warmth and heft to the coat. Last year’s mixture of cashmere and wool was too light. I usually wear a size medium, but I chose the size small that I calculated as a size 40. Layered with a sweater, the coat fits me perfectly and gives a tailored look the military intended. The size medium would equate to a size 42 and be too baggy. YourDonegal green sweater is the perfect sweater to layer with the coat. I simply love the coat. I must admit I have a preference for alpaca that may bias my review.

Tricky sizing, size down one maybe even 2 sizes, however, the comfort and warmth of the coat is the best I’ve experienced , so soft and the color is perfect

My husband typically wears a Medium but had to size down to an X-Small for a better fit. The coat has a very loose fit in the body, so I recommend sizing down if you plan to layer. He sized down two sizes since he’ll only wear it with a shirt. Interestingly, the shoulders fit well in Medium, Small, and X-Small. The wool-alpaca blend is warm yet lightweight, and the dark Moss color is beautiful.

Great color, pretty warm, very stylish. A couple alerts if you’re considering this coat… i bought one in store in manhattan and a button immediately fell off. The staff was nice and processed a replacement to be shipped to my home. Second one arrived and another button fell off. I know that’s not unusual with thick wool coats but come on… for this price I’d expect more attention to detail. Local dry cleaner fixed it for $2.50 so not a big deal, but it was a waste of my time. Second, the sizing on these is wild. I’m 6’2” and 175 lbs. and the SMALL was the best fit for me. Plenty of room for layers underneath (seriously, I have enough room to wear this as an overcoat). Glad I tried this on in store. The large was insanely big. Medium looked boxy and also way too big. Honestly I could probably wear an XS. Anyway, now that my buttons are sorted I’m a happy camper :-)

This is a gorgeous coat, very warm and cozy. I love the look and it gets lots of compliments. However, I warn you that the sizing is really off. I always take a medium in coats, sometimes (rarely) a large, so I ordered a medium in this. It’s definitely too big for me as a medium and I should have returned for a small but decided to keep it regardless. I love it and wear it despite the size issue, but would recommend everyone size down.
