From The Perfumer: Incense mixtures are like a holy United Nations. All religions seem to have a common connection to ritualistically lighting things on fire. And the ingredients of these preparations stretch far across the ancient world. Things like galbanum, myrrh, ochnya, costus roots, and cassia are like cities on the map of incense. Using my old friend, research, I attempted to make an incense mixture as it may have smelled in antiquity before the common era (B.C.E.). Hence the name!
