Inspired by the cross-borough rivalry between the Bronx Bombers and the Amazin’ Mets, Todd has designed a capsule of sartorial fan gear: coaches jackets, terry cloth shirts, New Era hats and shorts. The last two are made with a suiting fabric from Italy’s Tollegno Mill.
Ever since they first squared off against each other in the Mayor’s Trophy game back in 1963, the rivalry between the Bronx Bombers and the Amazin’ Mets has evolved into a four-game contest known as the Subway Series™. The Yankees have traditionally dressed in navy and white, while the Mets’ colors are a nod to the royal blue of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the orange of the New York Giants. The Mets replaced these two National League teams after the Dodgers and Giants moved to L.A. and San Francisco respectively in the late Fifties. Instead of the traditional team color stories, Todd chose a muted, sophisticated palette of grays, blacks and whites for this capsule.
