Our traditional chore coat gets an update in a sartorial Italian fabric; think of this as “tailored workwear.” The basic silhouette — clean lines and three patch pockets — remains the same, but we’ve updated this utilitarian classic with a butterfly lining, slimmer fit and a slight lapel roll at the collar, all elements more typically found in a sport coat or blazer. The Italian velvet — which comes to us from Pontoglio, a 63-person mill on the banks of the Oglio river that’s been synonymous with fine Italian velvet and corduroy since its founding in 1883 — is soft, plush and luxurious.
When I first got this and put it on my mom asked me if I was going to an opera. But no Im going to Mass with this and well its very nice. The cut and shape is pretty good and maked my shoulders look broader than they are. Mkae sure to pay attention to size guide. I originally order an XXl and that was just too big. I went down to XL and it fits good.
I loved the look of this jacket in the photos and once I got it I was very disappointed in how boxy it felt and how the back was so loose. The back drapes so loosely there is no shape. I went to a tailor to see if they can take it in and they said they’d basically have to rip it apart to take it in and shorten it to make it fit better. I like TS clothing in general but this was an expensive miss. I’ll wear it since I spent the money but am not happy that it doesn’t feel right.
