Please note: All sales final for this item.

If you wanted a more traditional pea coat, you’d have to board a time machine and enlist in the US Navy circa World War I. Back then, the peacoat wasn’t just a ruggedly cool piece of outerwear, it was cutting edge technology. Wool kept the wearer warm even when wet. Navy blue hid the ravages of salt water, grime and sun, and the large lapels popped up and could be closed with a throat latch to seal the wearer in from the elements. The length, hitting just at the top of the thighs, allowed for ease of movement when sailors had to climb the rigging. Even the double-breasted design meant that the buttons were located off to the sides, ensuring that ropes didn’t get snarled in them.Todd has kept all the old-school peacoat elements and then given our peacoat a luxe upgrade by adding some cashmere to the Italian fabric for a soft, sophisticated hand feel. The silhouette is double-breasted and features two flap pockets at the wearer’s waist and then two slanted, hand-warmer pockets closer to the chest. There are eight horn buttons on the front, a Bemberg lining with piped seams on the interior, and tabs at the sleeves that allow the wearer to adjust the aperture of the cuffs.

Great peacoat all around; wish it were warmer

Awesome fit. Slimmer cut for sure, needed to size down regardless. I’m usually a medium (sometimes large) in TS. Needed a small here. Not as heavy as I’d like for a pea coat, but it’ll be great with layers. Concerned about how well the buttons are sewn on, but not enough to take off a star or return. Good stuff.

Finally

I am really not much for most designers' take on the peacoat. Usually, the lapels are too small, the fabric is too thick/boxy, and no one wants to pay any attention to detail.

But, I love this peacoat! First, the large lapels and the throat latch are amazing. Nothing frames your face so well as a peacoat with the lapels flipped up. It draws the eyes up and is especially nice for when the wind whips between tall buildings.

Second, the fabric is goldilocks: because of the cashmere blend the fabric is light, elegant and soft, but also surprisingly warm. I live in the DC area and regularly travel to NY, so this coat is great for both climates.

Finally, the attention to detail is what you pay for: you have horn buttons, really well tailored fastenings and details. This is one of the things that makes it so versatile, I'll dress it up, wearing a suit underneath or dress it casual with a sweater .

This item was so nice, I had to buy a second one in another color.

Wool and Cashmere Navy Pea Coat

The fit, feel and look are superb. Attention to details make this coat extremely useful and comfortable while the fabric is just the right weight, warm while not coarse or difficult to move in. This is a coat that will last a lifetime if cared for properly and will never go out of style. Well worth the investment.

My experience was generally good.

Well made. Fit could be better. I had my taylor tweak the fit. That was an additional expense , but worth it t o have a proper fitting coat. Over all I like the coat.
