Italian Linen Sport Coat in Khaki

For several years I have been seeking the perfect light tan-ish linen unstructured sport coat. I have bought and sent back several as just too formal, too stiff, too conservative, too un breezy and un-easy, lapels always a tad off, the drape off, the fabric not quite it. I was pondering having one made to order. I wanted it lineny but floppy, looking spiff, but also looking careless. Classy, but beachy. I wanted the fabric to haveTexture, you want to touch it. Where was that fabric and style? Well, the box from Todd Snyder arrived, I pulled out the Linen Madison in Khaki, and oh, oh, oh, oh, there it was! Hello Beautiful! Its June Gloom outside now, cold nights, but summer is coming and I am so ready. [PS: please make one in black too].

Bought these unlined linen sport coats in a few colors for a 2 week trip to Capri this summer. It was hot, humid and required lot’s of long walks. Needless to say I breezed through town in my full ensemble while other’s opted for stripped back casual summer looks to beat the heat. Matched with a linen shirt and pants you can take on any summer destination with this coat. I was expecting bigger wrinkles from being packed in a garment bag but it was nothing a few strokes of a steamer could not work out.

Small tip from my tailor: leave a little slack in the sleeves as linen tends to wrinkle while worn (as we all know) and that can cause the sleeves to recede a little beyond what is intended.

If you know what you are after this is the best linen sport coat on the market.

The texture is fantastic and I love linen. I do wish that it had a hint of wool or silk to it so that it wrinkled less. But overall great.
