The perfect coat combines elements of military dress with classical tailoring, so that the wearer stays warm and dry while looking stylish. Case in point: this Brown Glen Plaid Peacoat. The silhouette is based on the classic navy reefer jacket from a century ago — the large lapels could be popped up and closed with a throat latch to seal a mariner in from the elements. Todd has kept these old-school elements and then given everything a luxe upgrade in a chic glen plaid made from a wool blend; think sartorial woodsman. Design details include two flap pockets at the wearer’s waist and then two slanted, hand-warmer pockets closer to the chest, as well as tabs at the sleeves that allow the wearer to adjust the aperture of the cuffs.

Nice coat

This is a nice coat but I am slightly conflicted. The pattern is very stylish and handsome. As others have mentioned, it’s very oversized but I think this is on purpose as a fashion element and it fits well over a blazer, so I elected to keep it in my normal size instead of sizing down. (I hope that it does not look silly in a year or two if oversized clothing goes out of fashion.)

Where I am conflicted is the quality of the material, especially for the price. This coat is around 30% nylon, not 100% wool, and it is noticeable: it doesn’t feel especially luxurious for this price point. For a little more you can get a wool-cashmere blend from TS. And it’s not fully lined either, so it’s a bit chilly wearing it. In contrast, I have had a British designer navy peacoat that is made of thick lovely wool and is fully lined, and I prefer wearing it to this new coat. Finally, know that it’s made in China, not Vietnam as indicated here; there is nothing inherently wrong with that but to me it feels like this was a mass made coat for luxury prices. In the end I kept it but I don’t find myself wearing it. Your opinions may differ!

Great Coat! And yeah, like everyone else says, it runs a little big.

In terms of quality, it's a very nice coat. Well put together, the construction of the jacket and details within make it look and feel like a more tailored or bespoke piece. I love the pattern of the jacket. I'd read another review that the wool felt less substantial than they'd expect for the price. I think that's fair criticism. I have a navy issue pea coat I bought years back that is a thicker, warmer wool. I view the lighter construction as being a bit more versatile. You can always layer up with a sweater or puffer vest underneath. If the wool were as heavy as my other pea coat, I think I'd probably wear it less, reserving it for the coldest days (I'm in Chicago). As it is, I think this would be comfortably from the teens to the 40s at least, with proper layering.

What everyone is saying about the sizing is accurate. I'm 5'5", 165. For perspective, I can comfortably wear shirt with a chest measurement of 20.5" - 22" pit to pit. I ordered a Small and a Medium, ultimately I kept the small. Both fit, the medium was noticeably larger, but not cartoonish. It was a boxier fit. The small fit a bit more tailored and still had plenty of room to layer up with a vest or sweatshirt.

Overall, very happy with my purchase. I did get 30% off, so that probably plays into my satisfaction. It's a good looking, comfortable coat and a pattern that feels a bit less mass produced. I wanted a well constructed wool coat that felt slightly different from the sea of thermal northface jackets…

Fine garment indeed

This PeaCoat is among the best outerwear I have had the pleasure to own.

You’re looking forward to cold weather….

I ordered the small version initially,(I wear a size 38 sport coat) it was too roomy. XS fits great.

GREAT-LOOKING COAT. WEIRD SIZING.

STYLE: A+

This coat looks as good in person as it does in the pix.

WARMTH: B.

The fabric is medium-weight and unlined. With a sweater, scarf, and hat, it might work in temps down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

VALUE: C

I bought this coat at approximately a 50% discount. At that price, I feel like I got a great value. At full msrp, probably not.

SIZING: C

I stand 6'3" and 220lbs in bare feet. Every coat, shirt, and sweater I own in every brand is an XL. This coat looked borderline silly on me in Extra-Large. I returned it for a Large and that size fits me perfectly.
