Created by the second generation of the Richard-Pontvert family, the iconic Michael Lace-up shoe was marked by the birth of Michael Richard in 1945. Renowned all over the world, it has proven to be timeless and suitable for any generation and style. The Norwegian welt was traditionally used for mountaineering and work shoes; the origin of the name remains a mystery, but it has no connection with Norway. Either way, it’s a solid and flexible mounting technique that makes the shoe waterproof and re-soleable.
Paraboot is a 4th-generation business — it was founded in France by Rémy Richard. The name is a mashup of “Para” (the port they sourced their latex from) and the American “boot” that inspired Rémy early on.
