A fire broke out in the Curling Bros. barbershop inWestlake, N.Y. in 1891. All the shaving tonics with theirspearmint, lime, vanilla &lavender burned. A charredbottle was found half-full. It smelled like this.

At first the fragrance has a strong burnt smell, however the scent dissipates into a pleasant sandalwood essence.

It smells just as you think it would from reading the description: smokey, musky, masculine. Almost too much for me, personally, but I've been using a small amount right out of the shower as a kind of "under layer" and it's perfect
