Todd Snyder, America’s leading menswear designer, and the sportswear experts at Fanatics have teamed up with the National Hockey League (NHL) to launch a new, limited-edition capsule collection. It merges Todd’s signature attention to detail and use of high-quality materials with classic athletic silhouettes — think cashmere sweatshirts, Canadian fleece zip-up jackets and more.
To bring these luxe gameday staples to life, we reached out to two of the best: New York Rangers legend, Stanley Cup champion and U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer Mike Richter and current New York Rangers forward and rising star, Will Cuylle. The two hockey stars met up in Chelsea; Todd played the role of ref as they dueled over vintage arcade games at Barcade, an aptly named New York City bar-meets-arcade spot. Who came out on top in the end…? We’ll never tell.
As a New York-based designer, Todd’s love for the New York team runs deep — when he moved to the city in 1992, one of the first things he did was go to a Rangers game. “Turning classic fan gear into chic wardrobe staples was a labor of love. It’s like a power play for your closet,” says Todd.
“Hockey is a sport I’ve always loved to watch, and I’ve always admired how it has some of the most stylish and tailored players in sports," says Snyder. "Partnering with Fanatics and the NHL was an opportunity to create fan gear that feels just as at home on the runway as it does in the arena.”
